Clones are bad news any which way you look at it. The service department I manage had a clone with no fewer than five fans in it, not counting the fans on the PSU, graphics card and CPU. Complete foolishness, let alone that the fans also had LED lights on them that cycled through a range of colors. Pure foolishness. Period. If. You want a real computer, don't buy a clone.
Now to me a "Clone" was anything that didn't have an IBM badge on it (sorry it's my age!), I'm assuming that these days you mean anything not from a "major" branded manufacturer. But let's face it these days all of those are manufactureddown to a cost rather than with any quality considerations in mind.
Edit by the way, no I don't think it would be worth it, everything inside a laptop is small cramped and fiddly to service let alone trying to...
